Long and narrow town garden design in Stratford-Upon-Avon

The Brief

The client wanted to add their own mark on what was a relatively blank canvas.

Their main requirement was to have a dining and entertaining area near to the house. They liked straight lines and elements of formality.

A low maintenance garden that could be easily managed by themselves was essential.

The Design

The main challenge with this garden was to create interest and movement through the various sections.

The bronze water feature acts as a strong focal point that draws the visitors interest. This can be viewed directly from the lounge.

The awkward corner to the right becomes a secret garden seating area.

Towards the back of the garden is a utility area hidden behind dividing panels. The dark painted backdrop highlights the new bronze water feature.

A low box hedge and topiary box balls provide form and structure throughout the year.

Additional areas of block planting add touches of formality within a softer, naturalistic planting scheme.
